I am happy to share feedback we receive from one of our happy client:

My name is Andrew Stowe and I am a project manager of social network website we are lunching in May 2011. At the beginning we decide to outsource development of tagging module for our picture gallery to freelance developer. The idea was very simple write a script to make notes on pictures like facebook have. We were happy with quotes and we got the script after couple days of development. Our gallery been modified couple times and we require more new features.. I could not get again in contact with the freelance that did first part of tagging script and I decide to find ready tagging solution. I find out that market have some image tagging scripts. After reviewing all possible solution for image tagging Internet market, I decide to try some tools like fotonotes, jquery script, imgtag, there were some more. But they all was kind of incomplete and I miss always something.
The most complex and flexible solution I have found was TagHim. It just exactly what I was looking for with all variety of plugins it has and API. The TagHim guys also help me with script integration and write me extension for Video tagging.

Thank you very much guys, it was a big pleasure to cooperate with professionals like you

Basically, when you tag an image you are linking one or mere text description with the image file specifying sort of zones on images that descriptions belongs to. This means that the image can me more accurately searched by search engines and be more descriptive to the human. If you think of the image’s filename (e.g. mickie-august-2008.jpg) as a piece of description, then every digital image travels with at least some description not always relevant by the way. By tagging an image you can embed a much broader and richer range of information into the image, which could include anything from technical details, to copyright information, keywords, dates, full description and photographer details.

Traditionally this kind of information is stored in the the website database, enabling to search and retrieve images based on its data, but when you come to take an image away from a website (e.g. by downloading it, burning it to CD-R or emailing it) you only get the image itself – the data stays in the website database, and you either have to export it separately or copy it and marry it up with the image later. This way you can take advantages for instance blind copy paste will not work for image stiller. If the image is removed from the album and the information is left behind.

Would it be very difficult to get tagging enabled for images on my web-site pages?

I found this question on one well known online forum. Page with pictures that he owns was badly indexed by search engines (google, live.com, yahoo, etc.).

The problem is that for the search engine the picture without tag mapping almost impossible categorise. But using TagHim image tagging software picture become more descriptive.

Just imagine following situation: you are professional wedding photographer and you want to get as much as possible potential clients. By tagging people on photos and making short description you increasing probability to get picture indexed in geometrical progression to the amount of descriptive tags that you does. An example: he took on one wedding picture present 23 peoples, by tagging 23 persons with heir names only, plus mentioning the place where it was taken brings you possibility get back thous people to your web site by name or place searching in search engine. Is it what you need for your SEO (search engines optimization)? And SEO not only the one advantage – your site will be much attractive.

Second example: On that wedding the was a pretty girl that you did not know but like to. And one of the your site users tag her. Now you know her name at least. But you can add more features to TagHim tagging tool like email field to notify the users that they was found on your website. So you know her email now.. not bad ha?

What to do now?
TagHim Demo page TagHim
Installation and Technical description
